Rocking Horse

Mi-mi was nice enough to get Ian a rocking horse that was waiting for us when we got back from our trip. Within 15 minutes he had taken much of it apart with a screwdriver.

Poop Holding!!!

Last week was an interesting week at our house. Ian got it in his head that when his pullups were gone he would start wearing underwear. Then, he started putting a lot of pressure on himself as the pullup supply dwindled and began holding in his poop. He went 5 days without pooping and became very uncomfortable and his behavior was intolerable. Poop holding can become a serious medical condition if not treated right away. We started giving him a stool softener/laxative. Even with this, he would have cramping and say "my butt hurts" but still attempt to hold the poop in all day until the pain got so bad that he couldn't anymore. By Tuesday we noticed that he was also trying to hold his pee. He would go 12-13 hours without peeing, even after drinking a substantial amount. By Thursday or so we finally got him pooping regularly, and peeing more often. Ian then commented that he better not pee again b/c there were only a few pull ups left. We reassured him that he could wear pull ups until he is ready to use the potty. He then seemed to lighted up and begin to go freely. We are now letting him guide us and not mentioning the potty at all. It was such a stressful week. Ian was so whiny, clingy and wanted to be held constantly. Now that Ian's poop issues have cleared up and he is feeling better, he had a great day today. We went to the Science Center and both Ian and Cameron had a blast (me too!!) Everyone assures me that one day Ian will actually prefer to poop and pee in the toilet. I will have to see it to believe it!!!
